Interested in learning but not owning bees? That’s fine too—we’ll show you ours or talk about your home hosting a few hives during the year.

Meet The Hobbeeist

More than honey.
Time together.

We’re a homeschool family with 4 kids in Enfield, New Hampshire, learning and working together around the hives.

Our goal is to teach our kids what hard work means, why it’s important—and how God is in all the little details of creation. Some jobs call for grown-up hands. Others are just right for little helpers. Preparing equipment, labeling jars, and sharing in the finished work.

Our journey began as an afternoon with a great friend and long-time beekeeper. We all suited up (kids included) and were introduced to bees for the first time. Then, a spark of creativity and an authentic joy in caring for our own bees turned into “The Hobbeeist”. It all started as a hobby, one that we love.

Family is the heartbeat that makes The Hobbeeist work! We encourage curiosity, slow down to prioritize room for learning, and are methodical and intentional in how we care for our (and your) bees. We can’t wait to meet your family.

Follow the rhythm of the hives

Every Season
has its work.

We’ll help YOU, every season.

Setup · equipment · colony checks

A fresh start for the hives.

Inspect frames for healthy activity, feed colonies that need a little extra help, ready equipment, and take a careful look at how the colonies came through winter. A new season starts with the small things. This is also when we install new package bees or nucs.

Let’s get started on
your journey, together!

01

Let us know how we can help.

Honey, help with your hives, apiary placement or design, pollination or some training—let us know what you’re looking for!

02

We’ll make a plan.

We’ll discuss all the details together—the scope of work, including how much we do the work for you, or help you care for your bees. All this happens before anything is scheduled.

A few good questions

Before you
say hello.

How long have you been doing this?

We have been caring for bees for 4 years—and with incredible success and overwintering outcomes!

Can you guarantee that my bees will survive winter?

We will give your bees every possible advantage heading into winter—but we cannot guarantee that they will survive. We can guarantee that the top strategies and approaches for bee care will be provided in your apiary.

What will my honey taste like?

This is the fun part—it’s slightly different every year! It all depends on what blooms well, and what the weather during a particular flower or tree’s blooming window is. Sometimes there is even an orange flavor in New England honey!

How long does it take before I get honey?

This is THE question many ask. Many products demand bees to work hard building comb for their colony to store honey; some come with all of that fully prepared. We work with both product lines but encourage fully drawn comb when possible. If you want honey year 1, choosing fully drawn comb for your hives is a must! If not, your bees will spend most of their energy year 1 building their home and storing up what they need just to survive winter.
